Children who kept tracks of the books they read over the summer with a Libraries Rock reading log are invited to this party. Certificates and special prizes will be awarded. Treats will be served.
Just in time for International Talk Like a Pirate Day, come see award winning musician Rockin’ Ron the Friendly Pirate perform a concert for the young and the young at heart! The singer describes his style as “Sesame Street meets Monty Python” and has released three albums for children, most recently “The Flying Pirate Circus”. All are welcome! Free admission.
Gary Barton, Librarian from the Howe Library in Hanover, joins Latham’s baby/toddler playgroup (Tales and Tunes for Tots) for a special music and movement storytime. All are welcome, including siblings!
Joe Citro, Vermont author and folklorist, has extensively researched and documented the folklore, hauntings, ghost stories, paranormal activity, and occult happenings of New England. He has published numerous novels and works of nonfiction. His latest work is the Vermont Monster Guide. Mr. Citro will share from his novels, oddity collections, and public radio commentaries, providing connecting anecdotes about the material and the collection process. Copies of his books will be for sale.
Ashley Hensel-Browning uses techniques such as tableau poetry, physical enactments of picture books, or self-choreographed dances to encourage kids’ deeper understanding of both books and dance. Engaging music, warm-ups, and movement games round out the program for a fun and joyful experience for everyone involved. All Preschoolers (3-5 year olds) and their caregivers are welcome!
